Categorisation of Respiratory Protective Devices according to DIN EN 133
 
Respiratory protection must be worn if there is a danger from hazardous materials in the air and/or lack of oxygen. Respiratory protection devices act either in a manner dependent on the ambient atmosphere (filter devices) or independently (breathing apparatus).
